For some retailers, back to school can be one of the biggest revenue-generating seasons of the year. With money to burn, students of all ages are looking to outfit themselves with new supplies and gear to get them through the first quarter/semester. Staples’ Back to School sale is highly anticipated and welcomed by students, families, and teachers alike for their exclusive deals and deeply discounted school and classroom supplies.
To help protect against fraudulent attempts to get those deals, Staples requested that SheerID design a way to not only protect their exclusive deals through verification, but also deliver (via the successful verification email) a complex product email that served up unique single-use coupon codes for each product offered for their Back to School program.
The email, triggered after a successful verification for either a teacher or college student, serves up 14 different Staples products, each with unique coupon codes and specific tracked URLs. These URLs allow the selected product to be automatically placed into the shopping cart – as well as adding the exclusive price to the cart. Throughout the 3 month Back to School campaign, 27 different products were assigned single-use, unique coupon codes and passed through to the Staples shopping cart, where the new price was automatically applied.
